6th of May 1937: The giantic airship "Hindenburg", built by the german Zeppelin factory, exploded at 7.23 pm just before its landing in Lakehurst, New Jersey. 36 people died in the huge hydrogen fueled fireball. This catastrophy ended the era of the large airships.
